Reminder:

DIFFERENT WORLDS 2022
10th International photo competition for young photographers from the
Central and East Europe (CEE).

Organised by Photon Gallery, the competition for young and emerging
artists in the field of contemporary art photography celebrates its 10th
anniversary this year. Over the past decade, it has evolved from a
national programme to an international competition involving 18
countries in Central and Eastern Europe, with a high number of entries
each year. In the second half of next year (2023), Photon Gallery also
plans to publish a jubilee publication featuring the selected finalists
from all ten editions of the Different Worlds competition. With this in
mind, it is all the more exciting to apply for the 10th edition, and all
the more promising to be among the selected ten.

The call is open to artists up to 35 years old (including those born in
1987) working in the region CEE (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia,
Lithuania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia,
Slovakia, Slovenia) and Austria or originating from these states and
working abroad.

With this open call we would like to promote artistic photography.
Therefore, the jury will give preference to works that show originality,
unconventionality and innovation both in their formal approach and in
relation to the selected themes and concepts. There is no set theme for
the call for entries. We accept work from the broad spectrum of
photography and related practises (photography, photomontage,
photocollage, photographic installation, appropriation of found
photographs, etc.).

The first prize is €1,000 towards the production costs of a solo
exhibition at Photon Gallery in 2022. The 10 best applicants will be
rewarded with € 200 for production costs and their work will be
exhibited in a group exhibition in Ljubljana, Vienna and elsewhere.

THE JURY

The selection of artists and works will be decided by a three-member
international jury consisting of Emese Mucsi, curator at the renowned
Robert Capa Centre in Budapest, Sabina Salomon, curator at the Museum of
Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka, and Metka Zupanič,
representative of Photon Gallery.

THE APPLICATION SHOULD INCLUDE:

with a resolution of at least 1,800 pixels on the long side in PDF or
JPG format.
